Daddy and his boys:
Mohawk Man:

6 Days Old!

Since Leland has been on the Billi Blanket, he has gotten on a very good schedule, so I have a lot of time to rest and do things around the house. Home health is still coming every morning to check his blood, but hopefully today will be the last day on the blanket. He lost down to 6 lbs 14 oz, but is back up to 7 lbs 6 oz as of today. We pray he gets off the blanket so we can put clothes on him and spend a little more time with him.

He was napping this morning, so I took a little bit to take some new pictures in hopes of getting a good one for his announcements.

Enjoy!

Breaking Him In!!

Our good friends Adam and Ashley came over for dinner last night to meet our little punkin. Adam is not one to hold babies under 1 yr old, but I quickly put Leland in his arms!
He held Leland for about 30 min and states, "He peed on me"!! I was in disbelief, but sure enough, the little guy got him good! I will inform you that the side of the diaper that he peed on was the one Jason fastened after his bath!

Leland Matthew Rooks

Our sweet baby boy is finally here!!

Leland Matthew was born at 3:38pm on July 22, 2009. He weighed 7lbs 9 oz and was 20 inches long. He is absolutely perfect! I had a great labor and delivery with very little pain. We are adjusting to the lack of sleep and glad to be at home.

Leland is doing great, but he is having to be treated for a mild case of jaundice. We have home health coming every day to check his levels and he has to stay on his Billi blanket the majority of the time. I have to wake him every 2 hours to feed because the more hydrated he is, the quicker the jaundice goes away.

Here are a few pictures:

It's Time!

I went back to the doctor yesterday for my 39 1/2 week check-up. To my surprise, I was 2 cm dilated and the doctor asked how I felt about having Leland on Wednesday. I was quite in shock, but excited! I have to be at the hospital at 5am tomorrow morning to start the induction process.

Jason and I are both really excited, but nervous at the same time! We have been looking forward to this day for 8 long months, but at the same time, we realize that our lives are about to be dramatically changed as we begin a new chapter!

We ask for lots of prayers as we prepare and go through labor. Please pray that I have a smooth labor, easy deliver, and most of all a healthy baby boy!!

We will udate with pictures as soon as things settle down at the hospital!!

A Waiting Game!!

I went back to the doctor this morning for my 38 1/2 week check-up. I am between 50 and 75% effaced, but still not dilated. According to the doctor his head is right there , my water could break tomorrow, and I can go into labor anytime now. I have another appointment on Monday if I haven't had him by then and more than likely they will induce next Wednesday or the following Monday. Unfortunately my doctor was in the OR, so the Wednesday or Monday could not be confirmed and I am still playing the same old waiting game!

All of our bags are packed, the car seat is in the car, and I am still praying for the 17th!!

37 1/2 Week Check-up!!

I went to the doctor today for my weekly check-up. I was surprised to find out that I am actually progressing. Last week I was still pregnant, but not progressing into labor whatsoever. This week I was told that my cervix has dropped and I am thinning out. I am not yet dilated, but apparently thinning out is the beginning to all the fun of labor.
I was told 3 times to call if I need the doctor before next week. I don't think I will have a baby by next week, but was informed that I can go anytime now, which has me a little extra nervous!!
The doctor says he weighs 7 lbs 4 oz today. I responded with how much weight can he gain in two weeks?? I was told USUALLY not more than a pound. My response was, "I am trying to stay in the 7 lb range!" The doctor doesn't think he will be over 8 lbs. He should be a good size baby at 7 lbs something! Not too big, not too small.
I was also kind of shot down about the possible induction being on the 17th. Most of you probably don't know, but my Ninnie's birthday was July 17th and she was by far the greatest woman I ever knew. As soon as we found out we were expecting in July, I hoped the baby would be born on her birthday. Well in order to do this, Leland will have to come on his own. I was informed that the doctor will not be in the office that day, so no induction on the 17th :(
I unfortunately am kind of stuck waiting until next Monday's appointment to talk with the doctor again to see how much I have progressed in 1 weeks time. IF I have progressed more and have dilated, they will induce me at 39 weeks, just not sure what day yet. However, if I have not progressed any more or not enough, I will have to wait until my 40th week or closer to my due date of the 24th.
I pray I go into labor on my own without being induced, but it is getting down to the wire and I am ready to have this baby one way or the other!!!
To pass time in the afternoons, I have been working with my sewing machine quite a bit. I made 2 newborn bubble suits for Leland. He will wear one home from the hospital and one for his first picture session around 3-4 weeks old.

I have also added ribbon and fabric to 12 burp cloths:
Made some paci clips:
And wipe covers:

Fully Baked!!

I am officially 37 weeks, which means that I have carried Leland to full term!!!!! Time has flown by!

I can deliver anytime between now and my due date of the 24th and Leland should be perfectly healthy! We do have a tentative induction date of July 17th, but if things are not progressing a little by that time, the doctor will make me wait until the 24th.

I can definitely tell he is running out of room in my belly. It looks like I have an alien in my tummy!! It is neat to watch him move around though! He responds to you talking to him and poking his little booty which is really cool as well. I will miss being pregnant, but I can't wait to meet our little boy!!

Congratulations Warren and Amy!!

Jason was a groomsman in his college roomates wedding last weekend. It was a beautiful wedding and we wish them many years of happiness!!!
